‘Patrick Melrose’: Showtime Unveils New Teaser & Poster For Benedict Cumberbatch Starrer

Showtime has released a new teaser and poster (see below) for Patrick Melrose, its upcoming five-part limited series starring Benedict Cumberbatch, who also executive produces, in the titular role.

There’s very little dialogue in this latest look, but Cumberbatch’s angst over his traumatic childhood is evident in a series of flashbacks. The series centers on Melrose (Cumberbatch) who’s struggling to overcome the damage inflicted by a horribly abusive father and the mother who tacitly condoned his behavior.
Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight)Hugo Weaving (The Matrix trilogy) also star as Patrick Melrose’s parents. Rounding out the cast are Anna Madeley (The Crown), Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers), Allison Williams (Get Out), Pip Torrens (The Crown), Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster), Holliday Grainger (The Borgias), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) and Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones’s Baby).
Each episode, devoted to one of the five novels, is written for television by David Nicholls (Far from the Madding Crowd, One Day) and directed by Edward Berger (Deutchland 83, Jack).
Patrick Melrose is a co-production between Showtime and Sky Atlantic. It premieres Saturday May 12 at 9 PM on Showtime.
Check out the teaser above.
